Training Manikin Adapted For StarGuard Lifeguards!
Lifeguards and Water Safety Pros at the Association of Aquatic Professionals (AOAP) Conference, that took place in Frisco, Texas earlier this year, who operate their Aquatics facilities using StarGuard Lifeguard Certification asked eLifeguard.com® to create a special version of the Training Manikin. The Training Manikin - Silhouette II was born!
Conference attendees were impressed with the innovative use of the Dive Brick inserted into the center of the Manikin. The use of the Brick allows the Manikin to sink to the bottom of the pool / lake / ocean and serve as a Passive Doll / Silhouette. The unique design of this Manikin, unlike that of Dolls, allows the Lifeguard to rescue the device and bring it to the surface using various standard lifesaving rescue maneuvers. Once at the surface the Manikin (Victim) can be grasped and brought to safety.
When the Dive Brick is removed, the Lifeguard Training Manikin - Silhouette floats at the water's surface, ideal for rescues at or near the surface of the water.
The innovative design of the Training Manikin - Silhouette II, as compared with the Training Manikin - Silhouette, which was designed with American Red Cross and YMCA Lifesaving Training in mind, allows the Manikin to be used in training for maneuvers such as the Leg-Wrap Rescue and the Extended Leg-Wrap Rescue which are unique to StarGuard Lifeguard certification.
